350 all-new cabins are coming to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

One of the most exciting new things coming to Disney World in 2024 is the 350 all-new cabins that sleep up to six people at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. And don’t let the words “cabins” or “wilderness” fool you because, based on the renderings, these are some high-end-looking places to lay your head just a short boat ride away from Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

They will also be a part of the Disney Vacation Club, so you can book them not only with cash, but you can also rent DVC points to stay there for potentially even less.

Here’s what we know about the new DVC cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

What are the new DVC cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort?

Disney’s Fort Wilderness is a massive campground (not to be confused with the nearby Disney’s Wilderness Lodge resort hotel) that has space for tent camping, RV camping and also free-standing cabins you can rent.

These 350 brand-new cabins will reuse the footprint of the existing cabins that have been there for years, but will otherwise be entirely new spaces.

Not only will these DVC cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort be new, but for the first time, they will be a part of the Disney Vacation Club, which opens up additional ways to book stays by owning or renting DVC points.

The cabins will sleep up to six people in a queen bed, twin bunk beds in the main bedroom and a pull-down Murphy bed in the living room. There is a full kitchen, your own outdoor patio and a charcoal grill, and some of the cabins are dog-friendly if you want to bring the whole family.

When will the DVC cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort open?

TPG just learned the opening date for the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is July 1.

This will be a phased opening, so not every cabin will be available on that date. We also learned that existing Disney Vacation Club members can add on to their membership to buy a membership for these cabins starting Feb. 1 (with the ability to book beginning Feb. 15). Those looking to buy their first DVC membership for this property can do so starting Feb. 27.

Those with memberships at other DVC resorts who are able to book this property with their points can do so beginning April 23. Disney has not yet announced when direct cash bookings will open.

How much will it cost to stay at the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort?

If you book with DVC points that you own or rent, it will cost at least 15 points per night to book one of the cabins during the lowest season of Sept. 1-30. Rented points are available for a variety of prices based on where you rent from, but it is usually $21 to $23 per point to rent through David’s Vacation Club Rentals, TPG’s point rental partner. That would mean prices start at $315 a night via rented DVC points at $21 per point.

Prices go as high as 36 DVC points per night during the weekend near Christmas and New Year’s but hover closer to 20 to 25 points per night during many nights of the year. You can find the full points chart here.

Cash prices direct from Disney are not yet available for these new cabins. However, the existing cabins that will be replaced by these new ones are often rented for $500 and above per night, so I’d expect these to cost at least that amount.

Bottom line

These 350 new cabins are not the only new places to stay coming to Disney World in 2024. A new tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is under construction with a late 2024 estimated completion date. That will also be a part of the Disney Vacation Club once completed.

The new cabins are especially exciting as Disney’s Fort Wilderness offers a close-to-it-all location but also an entirely unique type of Disney vacation where you can get around by golf cart, ride horses, take an archery class, visit Cinderella’s ponies and enjoy more space and a slower pace than most of the rest of the Walt Disney World resort.
